The up-eye nymph hook was designed to help correct two problems that present themselves when fishing weighted nymph fly patterns. The up-eye design allows weighted nymphs to ride right side up to offer more lifelike presentations. An upright hook will generally hook a fish in the lower jaw instead of the upper jaw where eye damage can occur, especially in small fish.

The hooks are made of the finest high-carbon steel, which is hardened and tempered to an exacting formula that makes for a long point life and a very strong hook. Daiichi hooks use a 12-degree constant taper ground needle point. This eliminates irregularities in shape, assuring no weak spots, and gives amazing speed of penetration.
