We're Long Range Outdoors. Thanks for stopping by. Here's our story:

We're a group of people passionate about having a great time outdoors. We're a locally owned business with deep roots in the province of Newfoundland, especially on the West Coast. Our vision is to have the most loyal customers by offering the best ownership experience and to have an awesome place to come to work. We've been in the outdoor recreation business since 2008, when Western Group founder Clyde Melendy purchased Snow & Water Sports Ltd and named it Western Motor Sports.

At the time, Western Motor Sports was a small Arctic Cat retailer carrying snowmobiles and ATVs. Back then, side by sides were hardly around! We had a little shop on 29 Maple Valley road in Corner Brook. We began selling boats, getting more people outdoors and growing bit by bit. In fall 2015, with a newly renovated location at 68 Lundrigran Drive (photo below) and a whole lot more showroom space, we took a huge step forward:

In December of 2015, we acquired The Parts Centre, a local Polaris dealer and moved them into our new space. We had the largest indoor showroom in the province, but it quickly filled up:

Over the next few years, we continued to grow. Always with a vision to deliver experiences that kept customers coming back. That's what we built our brand on. 

Great months turned into great years, and in 2021 another local business owner was hoping to retire. Twin Peaks Motorsports, our local Honda, Yamaha and a Sporting Goods dealer joined the Western Group Family. At this point, we couldn't fit another widget in the showroom at Lundrigan drive, let alone a few more lines of product. So Twin Peaks stayed put and we started looking for more space.

22 Confederation Drive, formerly a Toromont/CAT heavy equipment dealership was identified as the location of our new home. This 25,000 square foot building had been vacant for a while and needed a ton of work. We contracted local builder Brook Construction to oversee, and Newfoundland design firm Carvel & Helm to design the space. 

Western Motor Sports and Twin Peaks Motorsports were both foundational to the outdoor community in Corner Brook. While our plan to move them together was firm, it was challenging to decide which brand would remain. That's when our new brand, 'Long Range Outdoors' was born.

While the bulk of our business continues to be sales, service and parts for powersports equipment like Side by Sides, ATVs, Boats, Dirtbikes, Snowmobiles and Tractors, this website is dedicated to our offering of sporting goods. (For our powersports site visit https://longrangeoutdoors.ca) 

In March 2025, we purchased Good Buddy Sports from a local business owner hoping to retire. Garry had built an amazing business over 40+ years. Good Buddy Sports team moved to our second floor with the rest of our Sporting Goods team and we got to work bringing our products online. 

That brings us to today. Lots has changed. We would not be where we are today without the hard work and commitment of our staff, to whom we are eternally grateful. Our vision remains unchanged: to have the most loyal customers by offering the best ownership experience and to have an awesome place to come to work.
